This excursion leads into the foothills of the wild landscape of the White Mountains and to a dream beach. Elafonisi is a small islet which is located 75km from Chania, on the southwest of Crete. On your way you can visit also the Chrysoskalitissa monastery.
This islet was the site of a massacre of 850 women and children by the Turks in 1824. It is connected to the beach with a swallow reef ( about 1m deep) that allows crossing when the sea is calm. The sun is without mercy in the glimmer of the blue-green lagoons and white beaches. An idyllic lagoon, which is visited by thousands of tourists every summer.
It is the closest thing to a tropical paradise!
